There are reasonable points of view on both sides of the gun issue that is such a hot topic right now. Some people believe that there are no reasons that are good enough to own one, but there are other people that believe they have a constitutional right to own one if they want to. Surely, there has to be a middle ground somewhere that everyone can live with. Those that want no part of owning a gun certainly do not have to have one, but should they be able to decide that no one should have one?
It is easy to understand how people that have been the victim of a gun holdup or shooting themselves might believe that guns should be banned. If you ask someone who was able to shoot an intruder in their home or successfully defended themselves with a firearm in another desperate situation about giving up their gun, they are likely to flat out tell you they would not give up their gun. It just goes back to question is there an answer that will suit everyone?
When you go out traveling by car and whether you are a lone or not, would you feel safe if you knew you had a gun with you? How safe would you feel if you did not have one with you? Many people have disappeared never to be heard from again when they broke down or got lost on a dark lonely road. Whether or not having a gun with them could have made a difference or might never be answered in the cases of those that have already happened, but what about the incidents that have not yet happened?
Situations like those are the very reasons why so many people think that owning a good is a good thing. Most people that own guns have no intention of hurting anyone, but they also want to be able to protect themselves in case anyone tries to hurt them. Gun owners that are responsible will take what ever measures necessary to keep the firearms from getting into the wrong hands and to make sure they use a proper gun cleaning kit to care for them properly.
There will always be those that oppose gun ownership and there will always be those believe they really need to have them. When people debate the subject they have to agree on two things. There have been some really bad things that were prevented because the good guys had guns, but there have also been times when the bad guys did some really bad things because they had guns.
